In January 2005 , the Parish Councils of Sulhamstead and Ufton Nervet joined forces to launch a joint Parish Plan initiative.

The purpose of the plan was to define the actions that the Parishes should take, either jointly or individually, to enhance the living environment and quality of life for those living in the parishes and to report these findings to both Parish Councils and West Berkshire Council.

In 2006, following analysis of the questionnaires completed by more than 55% of the households in both parishes , the key issues and objectives for the Parish Plan were identified.

The Parish Plan Implementation Committee was formed in Febuary 2007, following the publication and distribution of the Parish Plan.

The committee is dedicated to tackling the key issues raised in the Parish Plan.
